e+m Holzprodukte GmbH is one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality wooden writing implements. With over 100 years of tradition of the finest craftsmanship and modern production processes, the company not only produces writing implements, but also gifts, accessories and technical parts from sustainably grown wood.

Along with the relaunch of the shop via Magento, a new and elegant design was to be created. For this it was important that attributes at the product and filter level are clearly displayed.

The shop should be linked to the “Sage” merchandise management system and be available in German and English. An important requirement was also the availability for private & business customers via the Magento multi-shop system, on the basis of which the presentation of VAT varies.

In addition, the following functions could not be missing:

• Integrated contact form
• Online catalog as PDF
• Mailchimp connection via a module
• Caching via “full-page cache”
• Dynamic shipping costs by weight and country
• Important payment methods
• Connection to the merchandise management system

In addition to the technical development, fundamental optimizations in the area of ​​SEO (e.g. meta title and description, optimized category pages) were also requested.

Umsetzung

The Granada theme was used for the design and a child theme was developed from it, which was adapted to the previously defined design.

Since wood products with different grains are sold, these should be shown in the filter. For this we adapted the Swachtes in the Magento templates. Icons were stored in the theme and assigned accordingly for attributes such as length, printing area or the nature of the mine.

The online catalog was integrated via a PDF plugin that works with JavaScript. For dynamic shipping costs we installed the module “Shipping Table Rates” from Amasty. In addition, graduated prices for volume discounts have been set up via the Magento standard settings.

The merchandise management connection was implemented via the “dmConnector” as a sales interface.
